A Dericious Collaboration!

HAPPY MAY Everyone!

We are excited to announce our latest collaboration with Japanese Chef, Ochikeron, from the YouTube channel “CREATE, EAT, HAPPY!“. I “met” Ochikeron several years ago when we both had personal blogs. She would blog about her recipes and her life in Japan and I was instantly drawn to her since I am in love with their culture! Fast forward to today, Ochikeron is well known for her very creative and cute recipes which are featured in magazines and articles all over the world.

When she approached us about doing a collaboration tee to celebrate her 2 year anniversary on YouTube, it was an easy “YES!”. Months in advance, she asked her fans what they would be if they could be any japanese food item and the most popular response was TAIYAKI!

Herro Hachi x Flo Tea Room Collab

Gotta give it up to Twitter once again since it is where this collaboration began. A few months ago, I received a tweet from Flo Tea Room asking me if I have been to their restaurant. I thought it was just another one of those robots/spammers so I was hesitant to respond but I knew about the restaurant and I have been there before so I just went for it. I was surprised that they continued to make conversation with me and later on sent me a message saying that they really liked Herro Hachi and wanted to talk about a possible collaboration.

A collaboration with a restaurant?!? It was a scary thought since the only collaborations I have ventured into were with individuals or small groups, never a restaurant! The more I thought about it though, the more it made sense. Their restaurant (HK/Taiwanese style cafe serving awesome bubbletea) matches well with Herro Hachi’s demographic, design, culture, etc and It’s a well known fact that I have a bit of an addiction problem to Bubbletea. It was a perfect match.

Gio Levy x Herro Hachi Collab

Last January, I came across someone on Twitter named “Gio Escueta”, clicked on his website and listened to one of his songs….I was automatically hooked. I casually tweeted him saying that I really enjoyed his song “Angel” and the story behind it, he responded back and soon after sent me an email about the possibility of working together on a t-shirt for his upcoming concert in the summer. Fast forward 5 months later, our collab tee is finished, Gio Escueta (now Gio Levy) is quickly getting noticed by many here in Vancouver and around the world, and he’s released his first CD!

The debut of our collab tee (The Gio Neeenja tee) and his CD release party was held at Earl’s V Lounge in Yaletown with a great turnout. He also showed his very first music video to his original song “Let Her Know” – i’m an extra in it!!!! haha! Can you spot me? :P Watch his video here.

Herro x Gio tee will be making an appearance again at his very first concert on JULY 7th! More info here, locals, you won’t wanna miss it!

After the show, we will be making the tee available for purchase online, stay tuned! ;)
